about

The project,
at a glance.

VIVI Music DE brings VIVI Music to Windows, Linux and macOS — same Material 3 interface, a collapsible sidebar instead of the mobile bottom bar, and a dedicated device-sync screen.

What it is

VIVI Music is a modern music player that streams from YouTube Music. The Android version is the original — created and maintained by VIVIDH P ASHOKAN. VIVI Music DE is the desktop port: it reuses the same screens and the same pure-JVM network modules (innerTube, Spotify, Last.fm, Kizzy, ShazamKit, JioSaavn, lyrics) on top of Compose Multiplatform, and re-lays them out for a resizable window with a collapsible sidebar.

The part people actually come for is cross-device sync: pair it with the app on your phone and playback, seek position, settings and library follow you from one device to the other — over the same Wi-Fi, or anywhere, through a cloud relay. Details on the sync page.

Credits

VIVI Music DE stands on the shoulders of a few very good projects:

  • VIVI Music by VIVIDH P ASHOKAN — the original Android app that this whole project ports to the desktop.
  • Better Lyrics — synced lyrics and YouTube Music integration.
  • SimpMusic — lyrics functionality and integration logic.
  • Monochrome — the premium Apple Music–style visualizer canvas.
  • Zemer — for the new playback method, which changed what the app could do.
  • Mostafa Alagamy — inspiration and contributions to the community.

The questions people actually ask

Is VIVI Music DE free?
Yes — free and open source under a modified GPL-3.0 license. No ads, no tracking, no premium tier.
Do I need a Google account?
Not to browse and play music. Signing in (Google or cookies) unlocks your YouTube Music history, library and playlists.
Which systems are supported?
Windows 10+, Linux (x86-64) and macOS 10.15+. The install guide has the package for every one of them.
Can I sync with my phone?
Yes — pair the Android app over LAN (same Wi-Fi) or the cloud relay. Queue, playback, volume, playlists and settings stay in sync. See Sync.
Is it a fork of VIVI Music?
It's a desktop port of VIVI Music, created and maintained by VIVIDH P ASHOKAN. VIVI Music DE keeps the same Material 3 interface and adds desktop features plus device sync.
How do I report a bug?
Open an issue on GitHub or ask in the Telegram channel. Include the version and, if you can, the error log from ~/.vivimusic/ — the error codes page will help you decode it.
